Progression Rules
Although CIMA recommends that student s take exams in a particular sequence (for example to complete all operational level exams before attempting management level exams) the new structure does allow flexibility at the operational and management level. Examinations from different learning pillars at either the operational level or the management level may be sat concurrently. A maximum of six papers may be attempted at any one exam diet, but IAB recommends that part-time students do not attempt more than two papers at each sitting.

Students must have passed all operational level and management level examinations in each pillar prior to attempting the strategic level exams. When attempting the strategic level subjects, students must sit all three papers together at the first sitting. Subsequent sittings may be for any combination of papers in any order.
