Q. How is CIMA different to ACCA?

Please ask for a copy of our leaflet ‘International qualifications in accounting’. This gives a very broad comparison of the two qualifications. Students tend to choose CIMA if they are following a career path related to business management in some way.

Q. How much does it cost?

Please ask for a copy of our leaflet called ‘CIMA factsheet’. This includes all the fees payable to CIMA. In addition to CIMA fees you will have to add the cost of books and tuition.

Q. How long will it take to qualify?

This depends on the amount of time you can devote to studies. Generally speaking you should think in terms of three to four years.

Q. I have a degree in Finance, will I need to take CBA?

It is quite likely that you will be exempt from C03 Fundamentals of Business Mathematics, and C04 Fundamentals of Business Economics. If your degree included law studies you might also be exempt from C05 Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law. But CIMA is reluctant to give exemptions to the two accounting papers (C01 and C02) because they consider them to be essential foundations to subsequent papers. You will not really know your position on exemptions until CIMA has been able to review your transcript of subjects studied at university.

Q. I checked the CIMA website and noticed there was no exam centre for paper-based exams in Armenia. Why is this?

IAB Centre is applying to become an exam centre for CIMA. This requires us to demonstrate that there are at least 10 candidates wishing to sit the exams. The interest in CIMA is gaining momentum in Armenia and we expect to be able to satisfy this condition soon.
