  • Introduce yourself

My name is Karine Vardazaryan. I graduated from American University of Armenia and got my MA in TEFL.

  • How it happened that you started to work for IAB centre?

I was searching for a job, and got the announcement from AUA ACDO, thus, I applied for the vacancy and after successfully passing the exams for getting the job I was hired. The probationary period helped me understand that this is where I want to be and here I am.

  • What attracted you to this company?

At IAB I feel the corporate culture here, as well as, I like the direction the company is headed in. Its developing and growing day after day. I can see myself getting the learning and the freedom I need to achieve my professional goals.

  • What is the added value of IAB centre in the Armenian economy and for the Armenian youth?

They develop new culture here and become better professionals for our society. IAB helps them be confident, persuasive and promising professionals. IAB does not teach people to act or become someone else, it helps them find the button of success in them, and move ahead in their career ladder, and take leadership roles.

  • How has IAB helped you in your career path?

As, I have just mentioned, IAB gave me freedom which I value the most. Here I learn and teach and develop the attitude of mutual respect and trust.

  • What has been your greatest success at IAB centre so far, and what did you learn from it?

As a fairly new employee, I think the greatest success for me was fitting in. I feel part of the team, valued and appreciated. I learnt and developed the ability to direct my individual accomplishments toward the organizational objectives..

  • What was the blogathon project you headed up, and what was its outcome?

This year was the first time that Armenia joined the Blogathon. Its an annual event organized by British Council worldwide. During the Blogathon EFL/ESL teachers blog about their teaching experience with their colleagues and the world! It is all about sharing your ideas with creativity and enthusiasm. It is also a good chance to be known internationally and make connections with other teachers around the world. I was actively blogging about my teaching and learning experience as a professional and sharing it worldwide. According the international board of committee I was recognized as one of the most active, enthusiastic and interesting blogger, as a result I was awarded the Bronze award in Armenia.

  • What assignment was too difficult for you?

I dont consider tasks difficult, but challenging and I think challenges are what make life interesting, and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.

  • What techniques and tools do you use to keep yourself organized?

Task manager, calendar and reflection: these are the three things that help me be organized.

  • How do you want to improve yourself in the next year?

I have short and long term goals. The initial one is about consolidating my skills and abilities, as well as getting new qualifications. My long term goals include getting more real life experience from small projects and I think in the nearest future, after reassessing my strengths I could and would become a manager of a project and lead a team.
